NATIONAL SCIENCE WEEK
At Dropmore Infant School we take part in the national Science Week by planning a range of interesting investigations for all 3 year groups, covering national curriculum objectives as well as elements outside of the national curriculum (such a magnets and forces). The highlight of our Science week is our Science Challenge, which was first started in 2000 and is now in it’s 20th year. Parents and children are set 2 scientific challenges to complete at home, to be shared in a special assembly to which parents are invited and prizes can be won. A wonderful way to bring the fun and excitement of science back into the home as well.

LIFE CYCLES
There is no better way to learn about life cycles then to experience it first hand. During their time at Dropmore our pupils will observe the life cycles of chicks, butterflies and frogs.
HARVESTING CROPS
Our pupils have access to a small orchard with apple trees. We enjoy harvesting (and eating) our apples in the Autumn.
All 3 classroom have a raised garden bed which they use for planting flowers, herbs and/or vegetables. In addition to this, the Year 1 pupils grow their own potatoes. These are proudly harvested in the Summer and depending on the harvest will provide a special lunch or a lovely snack for all pupils.
