RDA School Trip

10th November 2017
On Friday 10th November all children arrived at school very excited and dressed in warm clothes and wellie boots ... we were going on a school trip to the South Bucks Riding for the Disabled Association in Fulmer!! Our very own Miss Tolmie is a volunteer at the RDA and she had suggested a visit to the yard. Staff met at the RDA in half term to plan an exciting and educational day of activities.

The day started with all children watching a riding lesson in process. The children were immaculately behaved and sat in silence for the duration of the lesson (20 minutes). They asked thoughtful questions at the end of the session and listened attentively to the answers.
In their groups they then completed a carousel of 5 activities , with a short lunch break in between:
  • Riding the mechanical horse
  • Label a horse activity
  • Care for a horse
  • Visiting the Tack room
  • Outdoor arena - what is it like to have a disability
We finished the day with a wonderful woodland walk in which the children were asked to look for different trees and plants, collect the leaves and name them. It was such a lovely day and the children were having so much fun, we could have stayed longer, but time was up! We went back to the coach, ready to go back to school where the parents were already waiting for us.

This day would not have been possible without the help from the many volunteers and parent helpers. Our gratitude goes to South Bucks RDA for welcoming us and for their help and support in making it such a wonderful day for all!
