Below is the Long Term plan and information about the lesson structrue.
Lesson Structure:

Each 20 minute lesson follows the 4 part lesson structure suggested in 2007 LaS:

Revisit and Review: These parts of the lessons have been planned to revise a variety of different phonic skills across the week, so none of them get forgotten.

Teach: These parts of the lessons have been planned to introduce new learning eg learning a new sound for a grapheme or reading/writing a new tricky word. The adult leading the session introduces the new learning (this may include modelling).

Practise: These parts of the lessons are when the children ‘have a go’ at using the new learning to read/write words by themselves or possibly with a partner. Most of the words are linked to the new learning, but some are linked to previous learning, which may need revision. There is a balance of reading and writing activities in ‘practise’ across the week.

Apply: These parts of the lessons require children to work individually to read OR write one sentence. Each sentence contains the new learning, as well as revision of previous learning. There is a balance of reading and writing activities in ‘apply’ across the week.

The lessons provide a balance of the following key aspects of phonics each week:

• Reading and writing graphemes

• Blending and segmenting single syllable & polysyllabic words

• Reading and writing tricky words

• Reading and writing sentences
