Curriculum Day

10th November 2020
We were so disappointed that our School trip to Brooklands Museum had to be cancelled. Instead we decided to organise a Curriculum Day linked to our topic 'Around the World in 80 Days'.

During half term all children were set the homework task to make a vehicle of choice using a large cardboad box for the 'drive-in cinema' on our Curriculum Day. The vehicles were brought in on Friday and we were in awe of the time and effort put in by all children (and parents). We couldn't wait for Tuesday!

Tuesday morning arrived. It was a sunny autumn day and the children were introduced to the plan for the day. Reception spent their morning on a range of activities related to transport and decorated their hot air balloon decorations. They spent some time outside on our bikes and scooters too. Year 1 and 2 had a busy morning with a carousel of 4 activites: Bauble Ballooon art, Decorate a hot air balloon basket, Bikes and Scooter Skills.

Before we knew it, it was time for lunch. While the children were enjoying playtime, staff were busy setting up for the drive-in cinema. It soon became clear that the hall was not big enough for all the wonderful vehicles and the decision was made to set up the Year 1 classroom for the Receptioon drive-in cinema. The children were so excited to sit in their vehicle and watch a truncated version of the movie Up. They were treated to a small cup of popcorn and had a wonderful afternoon. I think the pictures speak for themselves.

Thank you to our parents for supporting this event. You made it very special!
