Safer Internet Day

5th February 2019

On Tuesday 5th February it was Safer Internet Day. The children were reminded on how to be positive, safe and respectful online. Using the story ‘Zap and Zoom Go Online’, we explored how we ask for, give and receive consent online.

In the afternoon we had a visit from our local PCSO Heidi Lansley who talked to the children about being safe online. She finished her chat with a short e-safety video from CEOP, Lee & Kim’s Adventure, which you can access here!

As part of Safer Internet Day, and linking this to Science, Year 1 made their own internet using cups and strings. They were amazed to find out they could communicate with each other this way.

We concluded the e-Safety focus for the week with a Perform workshop for each class. The children were taken on a spaceship to 3D land for superhero training. They were taught to ‘Zip it, Block it, Flag it’. A catchy phrase and a good way to remind children how to be safe online.
